Restricted
Glyceryl Stearate SE is restricted in EWG VERIFIED products without adequate substantiation. Glyceryl Stearate SE is a self-emulsifying ingredient, meaning it can blend with water without the need for additional emulsifiers. It is also a good emollient, giving the skin a smooth and soft appearance. Glyceryl Stearate SE is commonly used as a low-HLB thickening agent in lamellar gel (EU) network (LGN)-based oil-in-water emulsions, often combined with fatty alcohols. HallStar® GMS SE is the reaction product of Glycerin and triple-pressed grade Stearic Acid combined with a defined amount of Potassium Stearate to enhance self-emulsification in aqueous systems. It is used as the primary emulsifier in oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions at pHs in the range of 5 – 9. Typical use levels are 3 – 7%.
